My version of a refugium/particulate filter

My version of a refugium/particulate filter

EDIT: The small pump not only filters down through the terrestrial plants, but also comes out the two holes/pools you can see on the left in some of the photos!
There is a single one on the right side, but the mosses have virtually covered it, so it's not really visible anymore.
____________________________________________________________________
As had uploaded this for somewhere else, I'll just copy what I wrote about it!!

It's not very pretty, but you can't normally see it and it works great.
I kept it as simple as possible!
Btw, it has been cleaned since this was taken.
I needed the photo for something else, last week, and this was just a quicky!;~)
So ignore the six years of mess!!

It's in a sectioned off back corner of my 100 gallon paludarium.
I use it primarily as a particulate/pre-filter for the single powerhead located on the opposite side of the system.
There's also the small pump for watering land plants and the several small water features.
I'll add that the filter sponges are not intended to be biofilters, although they will act like one if not cleaned often enough.
Much of the detrius comes to rest on the sand below, to be vaccumed out at my leasure.
This was originally goin' to be something like a 'Hamburger Mattenfilter'!
But, this was what I ended up with and don't regret ending here, as it actually works very similar.

It's in a sectioned off back corner of my 100 gallon paludarium.
I was in a hurry and didn't bother to make everything all nice and shiny!
So...this is just a very normal view w/o any polish!;~)
This is just the right side of the tank and getting very overgrown.
The fish love it, so it'll stay lookin' unkept for as long as I don't care! ;~)

I use it primarily as a particulate/pre-filter for the single powerhead located on the opposite side of the system.
The main filtration is done by the plants.
The terrestrials, the marginals and the aquatic ones all do their part toward runnin' smoothly! ;~)
There's also the small pump for watering land plants and the several small water features.
It's located behind here!
Like I said, you can't see anything from the viewing side.
The water comes out the far right side and is drawn back through the screens behind here.
It goes through a semi-cave and even w/o the plants, you can't see it!

Olympus Zuiko 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 SWD

Olympus Zuiko 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 SWD

High Grade (HG) lens in telephoto zoom range (100mm to 400mm in 35mm terms). It takes 67mm filters. A slide open filter window is located in the underside of its lens hood. Lens hood inside has ridge texture for anti-glare purpose. Signature Olympus blue-and-silver band is present with glossy finish and is ridged in silver band portion. At time of writing, the street price is around $1,000.

Autofocus type is SWD (Supersonic Wave Drive), similar to Canon's USM or Nikon's SWM. It provides quiet and high speed phase detect autofoucs. SWD also features mechanical autofocus. Therefore, instead of Olympus's typical focus-by-wire, you can manual override anytime even when you're on AF modes. It is an internal and floating focus lens. While it does not extend when focus, but it will extend considerably when zoom out (see photo below). Shortest at 50mm and longest at 200mm. Unlike 14-35mm's SWD, Zuiko 50-200mm's SWD is speedy and usually accurate.

All HG and higher grade lenses have standard feature of weather proof and focus distance meter. All metal lens barrel body construction, including lens mount, with fiber glass reinforced plastic coating outside. Made in Japan.

I own this lens so here is my personal opinion on it. This is my favorite lens. $1,000 may sound expensive and it took me some commitment to purchase this lens, but I use it so extensively, it is totally worth the price tag. The photos coming out of this lens is magical: saturated color, high contrast and extremely sharp. If it has constant aperture, it is very possible this may categorize into SHG class of lenses. It is that great.

It is very compact considering it has the reach of 400mm in 35mm term (I have excellent moon shots with it). At first I felt it was really heavy and large (my first lens is Zuiko 14-54mm II, which is very compact), but when compare it with other brands' offerrings, this is very small. Like other Olympus lenses, it is built like a tank, so it's not light weight, but still is lighter than most.

Vignette is well-controlled, but you can observe them in the middle range (around 100-150mm range). For a telephoto lens at this grade, chromatic aberration should not be a problem, so is flare (with hood one) and it is true here. Best focal length I would say is 50mm and 200mm in term of optical quality.

It is super sharp. You can capture small stuff like spider webs which you do not notice with your naked eyes even completely zoom out at 200mm. The bokeh in contrast is very smooth. Light spheres are perfectly round corner to corner. On E-620 both Zuiko 50mm f2 Macro and this lens are about the same in sharpness in most situations (both hit the sensor limit and you cannot get any sharpner), but this lens's bokeh quality wins hand down. 50mm Macro's bokeh is too complex and has green fringes on them. Light spheres are also not round because it does not have circular aperture diaphragm and has seven blades instead of nine blades founded here.

50mm end is good for portrait, but its minimum focus distance of 1.2m (almost 4 feet) means you have to stand far from your subject. I have used 50mm for landscape and it works well. Because of its longish minimum focus distance and you may find yourself limited with flower and mushroom macro, but it is good for insects, birds and wildlife shots that you do not usually shoot very close by because of its sharpness.

Olympus's AF is not its forte. If you want speedy AF, this may not cut it, though it is relatively fast for an Olympus lens. It has no AF limiter so it may hunt a little if lighting is not high contrast enough. I would say this is the only fault of this lens, but since I am a landscape photographer (most of the time), and I usually shoot on a tripod (my handheld skill is terrible), so I manual focus anyways, so this lens suits me quite well.

The best part I like about this lens is people think I am a professional when I shoot with it. It is a very impressive lens for sure. People will come talk to me when I am with it. It adds a tremendous value to my photographic experience. And when the photos come out, the quality will remind you why you spent so much on one glass, because it is totally worth it.
